Trip to Lima

I had a great missionary moment with a Peruvian named Jaime on the plane to Lima. He has been living in New York and is now returning to PerĂº to study theology. So it was so easy to talk to him about religion. He met with the missionaries a long time ago and already had a Book of Mormon and told me he’s “Christian” and believes in the Bible. He had tons of questions about why the Mormons don’t believe in the Bible as much as the Book of Mormon.

So we had a great discussion about the role of the Book of Mormon. Since he already had a copy of it, I gave him the first three booklets of the missionary lessons. I invited him to come to church as well. The cool thing is he’ll probably be in Arequipa during the same time as us in a month. So he gave me his email address and told me to email him when we’re there. And he sounded genuinely interested in coming with us to church. So we’ll see what happens. It’s amazing how easy it is to talk with Latinos about religion. I love that.
